About Susan Turner
Susan Turner is a full time artist with a Bachelor of Science
and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Edu. and a minor
in Art. Her teaching background includes 26 years in elementary
school, where art was incorporated, almost daily, into the
curriculum.
She has taught Floor Cloth and Decorative Arts workshops at
the Fine Arts Center, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Mountain Works
Gallery in Monteagle, TN, Trousdale Studio in Decatur AL, Artsfest
in Grafton, Australia and from her studio, Brand New Day, in
New Market, Alabama. She has given private painting and drawing
lessons as well as teaching after school art classes at Walnut
Grove Elementary in New Market. She has painted over 125 commissioned
floor cloths and wall hangings and painted over 300 original
designs.She exhibits her work in art shows and galleries in
the Southeast. They include Panoply, Huntsville, Alabama, Fine
Arts Festival, Tullahoma, Tennessee, Tennessee Association
of Craft Artists Full Cast Exhibition at the University of
Sewanee, TN, Webb School Fall Art Show, Bell Buckle, TN, the
Centennial Holiday Art Show in Franklin, TN, Bluff Park Art
Show in Birmingham, Alabama, Arts Alive in Florence, AL, the
Bloomin’ Arts Festival in Cullman, AL, Art on the Lake
in Guntersville, AL, as well as others.
She has received media coverage from the Daily Herald of Columbia,
TN, Shelbyville-Times Gazette, Shelbyville, TN, Huntsville
Times, Huntsville, AL, The Gleam of Guntersville, AL and Bliss
Magazine, Florence, AL. She has served on the Tennessee Arts
Commission to award grants to artists in Southern Tennessee.
She is the owner of Brand New Day Art Studio located on her
great grandparent’s farm in New Market, Alabama.
